Old style music is the craftsmanship music created in, or established in, the customs of Western ceremonial and mainstream music, including a wide period from generally the eleventh century to introduce times. The focal standards of this convention got classified somewhere in the range of 1550 and 1900, which is known as the basic practice time frame.

European music is to a great extent recognized from numerous other non-European and well known melodic structures by its arrangement of staff documentation, being used since about the sixteenth century. Western staff documentation is utilized by arrangers to recommend to the entertainer the pitch, speed, meter, singular rhythms and accurate execution of a bit of music. This leaves less space for practices, for example, act of spontaneity and not indispensable ornamentation, that are much of the time heard in non-European workmanship music (analyze Indian old style music and Japanese customary music) and well known music.

The expression "old style music" didn't show up until the mid nineteenth century, trying to "consecrate" the period from Johann Sebastian Bach to Beethoven as a brilliant age. The most punctual reference to "old style music" recorded by the Oxford English Dictionary is from around 1836.
